Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa is searching for a female "life partner" to go with him on Space X's maiden tourist voyage to the Moon.
Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa has started an online campaign to look for a life partner to accompany him in the first civilian Moon voyage by SpaceX. Scheduled for 2023, this will be the first lunar mission by humans since 1972.
On his website, the fashion mogul, who recently broke up with actress girlfriend Ayame Goriki, called for women to apply for a "planned match-making event."
Maezawa wrote: "As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there's one thing that I think about: Continuing to love one woman. I want to find a 'life partner. With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space."
On the website, women can find a list of conditions and a schedule for the three-month long application process. The post, written in a dating profile style, specified conditions, such as applicants needing to be single, over the age of 20, being always positive and having an interest in going to space.
Maezawa will accept applications until January 17 and a final decision will be announce at the end of March.
The billionaire started as a drummer in a hardcore punk band and amassed his fortune in the fashion world by founding Japanese online clothing retailer Zozo Inc. He is believed to have a personal wealth of almost $3 billion, a lot of which he spends on art.
Earlier this month, he promised to divide 100 million Japanese yen or $925,000 between 100 randomly selected people who shared one of his tweets. He said: "To participate, all you have to do is follow me and RT this tweet."
Maezawa has said he plans to take a group of artists with him on the flight. The amount he paid for the voyage has not been disclosed but SpaceX founder Elon Musk said it was "a lot of money."
