Aside from scoring 40 points in 25 minutes of playing time, Curry also dished six assists and posted six rebounds, two steals and a block, shooting 14-of-19, including 6-of-9 from the 3-point area. In the first quarter he scored 17 of the team's 35 points while playing all 12 minutes.

In the third quarter, Curry scored 16 points in less than 7 minutes before Warriors coach Steve Kerr recalled him to the bench with 4:43 left in the quarter. He did not return to play in the final quarter of the game.

The only negative point in Curry's performance was committing five turnovers, indicating that he needs to get in sync with his new teammates more.

The sellout crowd of 18,064 at the new Chase Center watched as the Warriors improved their ball movement, posting a total of 34 assists for the game as a team. The three guard lineup of Curry, D'Angelo Russell and rookie Jordan Poole was on fire, with Russell scoring 16 points and Poole contributing 19 points.

When asked about the three guard lineup, Kerr said: "We'd be extremely small, and we'd be vulnerable defensively. But we'd be pretty explosive offensively. So, I have no idea. We'll see."

In place of Alfonzo McKinnie, who started in the preseason opener, Glen Robinson III opened the game at the small forward position for the Warriors against the Timberwolves. Robinson played well, scoring 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 1-of-2 from 3-point territory while grabbing four rebounds and dishing two assists in 20 minutes.

Marquese Chriss, who was playing as a training camp invite, also played well at the center position, teaming up with former defensive player of the year power forward Draymond Green.
