Marvel and Sony has agreed to work together again for the third installment of "Spider-Man" following a dispute between the studios in August.

Disney-owned Marvel Studios and Sony announced that production of the next sequel of "Spider-Man" will again involve Marvel and that the Spider-Man character would be featured in another upcoming Marvel movie. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige expressed that he is "thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will continue."

In 2015, Sony, the owner of the movie rights to the character, reached a deal with Marvel Studios to work together on films featuring Spider-Man and allow him to interact with other members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This agreement resulted to Sony's release of the hit movies "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home," as well as the character appearing in several Marvel movies, including the "Avengers" saga.

The second installment of the film "Spider-Man: Far From Home," garnered over $1.1 billion globally, ranking third in the highest-grossing films of 2019 behind "Avengers: Endgame" and "The Lion King."  For this year, only six films have reached the billion-dollar threshold, of which fiver were produced by Disney.

However, in August, the relationship between Sony and Disney broke down when they failed to reach an agreement on the character, announcing that Feige will no longer  oversee the production of the Spider-Man movies.

The news of the split between the studios prompted the #SaveSpiderMan trend on Twitter, with fans and actors reacting. Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner wrote an Instagram post saying: "Hey @sonypictures we want Spider-Man back to @therealstanlee and @marvel please, thank you #congrats #spidermanrocks."

While the terms of the new deal were not disclosed, many rejoiced the two studios' decision to mend the relationship, including Spider-Man actor Tom Holland. On Instagram, Holland posted a video clip from the film "The Wolf of Wall" where Leonardo DiCaprio's character shouted "The show goes on!'
