Joe Biden, other democrats beat Donald Trump in US' most accurate poll

Joe Biden as well as Senators Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Kamala Harris of California are leaving U.S. President Donald Trump behind in a 2020 general-election matchup.

According to the September IBD/TIPP poll, the poll that accurately predicted the 2016 presidential election results, Biden would win by twelve points in a general election against Trump. Biden would gain 54 percent support while Trump would only get 42 percent.

Meanwhile, Warren currently has 24 percent support, a 17 percent increase from last month. The other Democratic candidates could lead Trump by three to four points, close to within the margin of error.

Based on the poll’s head-to-head 2020 election contest of Biden vs. Trump, Biden led Trump by 13 points while Sanders set a narrow 49%-45% win against Trump. Results show that Warren and Harris had slimmer 49%-46% leads.

“Independents preferred Biden vs. Trump, 55%-37%. Warren edges Trump with independents, 47%-45%, while Sanders has a 51%-42% advantage,” according to Investor’s Business Daily (IBD).

Democratic nomination matchup

Warren's support garnered 27% among women and 19% among men. Biden recorded 28% support among both women and men.

Warren is also on top the candidates among whites, with 26% support, compared to Biden's 24% and Sanders’ 14%. IBD reports that Warren is “the favorite among self-described liberals, with 35% vs. 18% for Joe Biden and 14% for socialist Bernie Sanders.” Meanwhile, Biden appeals to “self-described conservative or moderate voters who are Democrats or Democrat-leaning, with 41% and 33% of those groups.”

The September IBD/TIPP Poll collected 903 responses from August 22-30, 2019. It has a margin of error of 3.3%. There are 848 registered voters surveyed for the 2020 general election matchup polling. The Democratic nomination polling has 360 registered voters who are either Democrats or lean Democrat.
