Madonna has canceled three shows of her Madame X tour in Boston, Massachusetts, because she was experiencing "overwhelming pain".

Singer Madonna decided to cancel three Madame X tour shows in Boston due to overwhelming pain but she did not specify what caused her injury. However, she apologized to her fans, saying: "Please forgive this unexpected turn of events."

"Doing my show every night brings me so much joy and to cancel is a kind of punishment... But the pain I'm in right now is overwhelming, and I must rest and follow doctor's orders," she added.

Earlier this month, she mentioned to fans in San Francisco, California, that she was in pain due to a "torn ligament" and "a bad knee". Following her most recent tour date in Los Angeles, she posted an Instagram video showing her taking "my usual ice bath for multiple injuries".

Another video she posted earlier showed a painful bruise on her right thigh. Madonna is known to be reluctant to cancel shows, canceling only a handful of dates over the course of her career that spanned 37 years.

During her induction to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2008, Justin Timberlake narrated how Madonna gave him vitamin B12 injections to stop him from getting sick while she was working with him. Timberlake said: "She gave me a shot in my ass and looks at me and says, 'Nice top shelf.' That was one of the greatest days of my life."

However, this was not the first setback she has faced on her Madame X Tour. In September, she postponed the opening dates in New York due to production delays. Then, after several dates at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York, she had call off a show due to injury. The opening night of the Los Angeles leg of her tour was also canceled.
